There has been much talk about the apparent dearth of Kelts in many Scottish rivers so far this Spring. I have had several people contact me to ask for my thoughts on this. My response has been " I do not know". This, to my knowledge, has never happened before------- even in 1976. Normally, a lack of Kelts in the Spring would indicate a poor spawning !! Certainly, here on the Thurso, we witnessed many fish spawning, albeit very late and staggered. I believe that the Thurso Kelts will show themselves in their own good time.
