I had the privilege on Wednesday of being one of a group of people to join Alex Parramore as he cast the first fly of the 2018 season. I have known Alex for fifty years and I thought that it was a very wise choice by the Owners to invite him, and I think that, given he had driven many hundreds of miles to attend, it spoke volumes of his love for the Thurso. For my part, we had a rod on the Private beat on the Opening day and there was a good turnout on Beat One. With the Government ban on keeping any fish before the end of March, Chairman Pat Quinn repeated what he did last year by making it free for members to fish before the end of March to try to encourage anglers to still have a cast. The actions of a very, very wise Man !
