Although we have picked up a couple of fish, we seem to be hooking and losing a greater number, and this for no obvious reason. Highlight of the week for me was to see thousands of fat, healthy smolts making their way seaward. These were in the lower reaches of the river in Beat One, and I was quite surprised that they were so far downriver. We normally expect to begin see these in the upper reaches from late April but I expect that the mild Spring has caused this event to start earlier.
