Although conditions have been reasonably good, that elusive first fish of the season is still swimming about somewhere. There seems to be a marked absence of Kelts at the moment which is difficult to explain. We can only assume that a good number managed to depart with the earlier high water. There are some very big tides in early February and, if we have not managed to take the first fish before then, there is a very good chance at that time.
