Weekly Report 16/01/2022
Another season is under way and as I look back I realise that my first season as an employee on the river was in 1964. In those days we would be wading through several feet of snow to access the river and this year it was almost summer like. There can be little doubt that these dramatic changes in weather patterns must affect the foods available to our salmon at the various stages of their lives and must be at least part of the reason for the dramatic decline in numbers. Having said that, the Thurso continues to be an incredibly healthy river.
