it has still been slow going but not entirely surprising given the bitterly cold North/North Easterly winds. There was a beautiful fish off the Private Beat estimated to be between eighteen and twenty pounds. I had wonderful news this morning from an angler on Beat One who witnessed a big shoal of smolts heading to sea. Possibly, because of the rather strange weather that we have been experiencing, they are obviously a bit late taking off.
